A place in Kenya’s second tier rugby league is up for grabs on Saturday May 6, 2017 when Nationwide semis take centre stage.
New boys Menengai Oilers will be taking on Ngong RFC in the first semifinal in what will be the clash of the day.
Oilers are unbeaten in the 2016/2017 season but face their biggest test at this stage as Ngong have proved to be a rock since the season started.
Both sides come from comfortable wins in the quarters where Oilers beat Maseno 20-3 as Ngong dismissed Embu 24-7.
Oilers topped the Rift Valley region ahead of Eldoret Falcons, Eldoret RFC, Egerton Wasps, Kitale RFC, Kabarak, Molo, Nakuru Kito, KPA Eldoret, Kapsabet and Kericho but between Nairobi and Rift Valley which one is more competitive?
In Rift Valley, there are walkovers day in day out unlike in Nairobi region where almost all teams honor their matches. Ngong had to top the club’s category before taking on the winner of the Universities category.
Oilers have however been sensational even in the shorter version of the game and go into the clash as arguably the better side.
Will Ngong’s journey be ended by Oilers or it’s vice versa? All happens on Saturday.
